Get up and running in under a minute

Encrypt a file or folder
Select a file or folder (or drag and drop)

Enter a strong password
Confirm the password

Click Encrypt
Your encrypted file appears in the same location

Decrypt a file
Select the .edsecure file
Enter the password
Click Decrypt
Your files are restored into a new folder

That’s it
Your original files are never modified
Everything happens locally on your machine
No uploads. No cloud. No tracking

Important
If you lose the password, the data cannot be recovered
Use a password manager to store it safely

How to Use EncryptDecrypt

Encrypting files or folders
Open the app
Select your file(s) or folder(s)
Click Choose File or Choose Folder
Or drag and drop into the window
Enter a password
Use a strong password
Confirm the password in the second field
Or generate one using the built-in generator
Click “Encrypt”
Wait for completion – a time remaining window will open along with a bar showing progress
A status message will confirm success
The encrypted file will appear in the same location

Decrypting a file
Open the app
Select the encrypted (.edsecure) file
Enter the password used during encryption
Click “Decrypt”
Wait for completion- a time remaining window will open along with a bar showing progress
A status message will confirm success
Access your files
A new folder will be created with the restored contents
Located alongside the encrypted file

Working with multiple files
Select multiple items before encrypting
They will be bundled into a single encrypted file
On decryption, contents are restored into a folder
Using drag and drop
Drag files or folders directly into the app window
They will be added to the selection list automatically

Viewing logs
Click “View Log”
Review past activity
Click again to hide the log
Use “Clear Log” to remove history if needed

Best Practices
Use a password manager to store passwords
Use long, unique passwords (16+ characters recommended)
Keep encrypted files separate from originals when possible
Always back up important encrypted data
Test decryption after encrypting critical files
